What is Oyate Tipi?

A non profit furniture warehouse that relies on donations and provides free household goods and furniture to women and children.

Who do I call if I am interested in donating furniture or cash?

All gently used or new household furniture and goods will be appreciated, however, we do not accept large appliances or clothes. You can schedule a free pick by calling the Oyate Tipi donation line at 204.589.2265.

If interested in donating money to help support Oyate Tipi, please contact the Manager at 204.589.2218 or Finance Department at 204.586.3813. Charitable receipts will be issued for all monetary donations.

What household items can I donate?

Oyate Tipi accepts all new or gently used furniture items including tables, couches, beds, and dressers. We also accept smaller appliances such as toasters and crockpots. Other household items like dishes, cutlery, bedding and towels, are also appreciated. See our top ten list on our Donations page.

We do not accept clothing or large appliances such as stoves, washers, dryers or fridges. Clothes can be dropped off at our partner agency North End Women's Centre - The Up Shoppe at 384 Selkirk Avenue, Winnipeg. You may contact them at 204.582.3494.

Should I call Oyate Tipi if I am interested in signing up for free furniture?

If you are interested in receiving household goods that you need, you must speak with a counsellor from one of the partner agencies. No staff or volunteer at Oyate Tipi can refer you.

Who can get free furniture?

Only the women who are participating in programs offered by one of the ten partner agencies may be referred by the agency.
